Some Particularities about NDT Testing

Welding is the most general procedure of joining materials to ensure a solid connection, while NDT (Non-destructive testing) is applied to confirm that the welded joint has acceptable reliability without any negative defects. It can be applied anywhere in the varied fields.

NDT methods may depend on the use of sound, electromagnetic heat, and natural properties of material. NDT Testing includes microscopy to monitor external surfaces in detail to find the faults in it. The sample preparation techniques forNDT testing include metallographic, electron microscopy and optical microscopy. One method called liquid penetrant testing which involves coloring (fluorescent or non-fluorescing). It is in the form of liquids used for non-magnetic materials, usually metals.

The second method is called magnetic particle testing which is also a nondestructive method. These are normally used for magnetic materials, which utilize the fluctuation leakage, arising as a result of surface and near surface discontinuities, to notice faults. The simpler methods coming under NDT training are ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, radiographic and whirlpool current testing. These tests are usually used in industry and scientific fields to see the properties and faults of material, module or structure with no damage at all.

Welding is the specified course of action by which we are able to connect or join any type of metal. This is done by melting the work pieces and adding a space filler material to make it a strong joint. It is sometimes used with pressure combining it with heat, or by itself, to create the weld. We can see welding procedure mainly in the building construction. We can say that welding plays an important part in our daily life. On the basis of metal properties and their structure, welding procedure codes are different. Many energy sources can be used during the time of welding process like gas flame, electric bend, an electron beam, friction, a laser and ultrasound. Welding can be done in many different environments as including open air, under water and in outer space.

At every place, welding remains dangerous, and you need to take precautions to avoid burns, electric shock, eye damage, poisonous fumes, and overexposure to ultraviolet light. You also need to be alert with your hold to the protecting gears. You should be dressed up in that before doing any of the welding procedures. Always remember that nothing beats a person who always takes into account his safety.
